Manual Therapy Centered Care

While every care plan is different, you can typically expect your plan to include manual therapy.

This might include:

  • Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (sometimes called scraping or gua sha)

  • Myofascial decompression (cupping)

  • Trigger Point Release

  • Dry Needling

I believe there is power in human touch that can’t be measured so most sessions are centered around manual therapy.

However, this does not mean you won’t work hard. Manual therapy gets the body ready for optimal movement and exercise. This is where lasting change occurs.

Types of Manual Therapy

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization—often referred to as “scraping” or gua sha—is a manual therapy technique that uses specially designed tools to break up adhesions, improve tissue glide, and reduce pain. IASTM helps increase blood flow, speed up recovery, and restore mobility for conditions like tendonitis, muscle tightness, and overuse injuries.

Cupping

Myofascial Decompression, commonly known as cupping, uses negative pressure to lift and decompress the skin and underlying tissues. When I perform cupping, I incorporate specific guided movements to improve mobility, enhance tissue glide, and amplify results. This combination helps increase circulation, reduce muscle tension, and promote faster, longer-lasting relief—especially for athletes, chronic tightness, and stubborn movement restrictions.

Trigger Point Release

Trigger Point Release targets tight “knots” in muscle tissue that can cause localized pain or refer pain to other areas of the body. By applying sustained pressure to these points, this technique helps reduce tension, restore normal muscle function, and alleviate common issues such as headaches, neck pain, low back pain, and shoulder tightness.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a skilled physical therapy technique that uses thin, sterile needles to release trigger points, calm irritated nerves, and reduce pain. Unlike acupuncture, dry needling focuses on musculoskeletal dysfunction and helps improve mobility, decrease inflammation, and accelerate healing for both acute and chronic injuries.
